Lise Meitner

 Early life

Lise Meitner (1878 – 1968) was born in Viena,  on 7 November 1878.Her father was Philip Meitner and was an Australian lawyer (= abogado) and chess master (=jugador de ajedrez profesional) and her mother was Hedwig Skovran but she didn´t work.

Chilhood

She had a "normal" childhood. She lived at the Leopoldstadt district of Vienna. She went to school at akademisches gymnasium ( a secondary school).

Adulthood

She entered the University of Vienna in 1901 and studied physics under the guidance of Ludwig Boltzmann. After receiving her doctorate in 1906, she went to Berlin in 1907 to study with Max Planck and chemist Otto Hahn. She has worked with Hahn for 30 years. In 1912, Max Planck gave Meitner a paid position as his assistant. She never married and had no children.She lived in Viena.

Becoming famous

She´s famous because of the science, in specific in Nuclear physics, radioactivity.In 1938, Lise Meitner discovered that nuclear fission can produce enormous amounts of energy and everyone knew her because of it.
The most important event when she was famous was the World War 2 and the most difficult times too.
 The most exciting event was when she was acclaimed as the mother of the atom bomb.
In 1939 she managed to travel clandestinely on a train to Holland.
 She met very interesting people such as Heinrich Rubens (physicist). 
She didnt have any award for her work.

Her inventions

Her invention changed our lives because  her invention immediately revolutionize nuclear physics and lead to the atomic bomb.If we didn´t have this atomic science would not have advanced as quickly as it did.
