Lise Meitner
Early life Lise Meitner (1878 – 1968) was born in Viena, on 7 November 1878.Her father was Philip Meitner and was an Australian lawyer (= abogado) and chess master (=jugador de ajedrez profesional) and her mother was Hedwig Skovran but she didn´t work. Chilhood She had a "normal" childhood. She lived at the Leopoldstadt district of Vienna. She went to school at akademisches gymnasium ( a secondary school). Adulthood She entered the University of Vienna in 1901 and studied physics under the guidance of Ludwig Boltzmann. After receiving her doctorate in 1906, she went to Berlin in 1907 to study with Max Planck and chemist Otto Hahn. She has worked with Hahn for 30 years. In 1912, Max Planck gave Meitner a paid position as his assistant. She never married and had no children.She lived in Viena.
